30th January 2019, Calne, Wiltshire, United Kingdom – For the last ten years, HRHislop’s skilled electricians have been challenging people’s perceptions of tradesmen. Founder Harry Hislop started out as an apprentice back in 2005 but was made redundant during the big recession of 2008. Undeterred, he set up as a sole trader on a mission to “redefine the reputation of tradespeople”. Just as Eddie Stobart’s uniformed truck drivers set new standards in the haulage industry, so HRHislop has broken the mould and is setting new standards in reliability and customer care for electricians. On Friday 1st February, Harry and his team have invited customers and guests to celebrate 10 years of working together with cake & bubbles, along with Calne Town Mayor Councillor Glenis Ansell and Rob Perks, CEO of Inspire.

Harry invested a great deal of time and money in this very different approach. Clients evidently love Harry’s goal to raise industry standards because the 33-year-old now runs a 10-strong team of electricians across the South West, backed up by 3 full-timers in the office and two people part-time.
The company has shown strong growth year on year and is about to expand with new office premises. The secret of success has been availability to answer all customer calls and emails quickly and efficiently. HR Hislop is large enough to cope with big projects, but personal enough to care about smaller ones too. Since 80 % of businesses fail within the first year and more fail within five years, to make it to 10 years is a great achievement.

The Commercial division has benefitted from professional project management combined with high-level quality control. They can handle new build developments, shop refits and agricultural installations and have worked on famous landmarks and listed buildings in Wiltshire. The domestic side of the business covers everything from changing a lightbulb, right through to the complete rewiring of a property. There is no call-out fee and the goal is to provide cost-effective solutions.

Harry is young and very driven. He inherited his entrepreneurial spirit from his Mum who set up Buttercups Kindergarten at Sprays Farm in Calne, 28 years ago. Asked how he has managed to grow the business so solidly, Harry says “We are a friendly bunch who take great pride in what we do! The last ten years has been exciting with plenty of challenges, but I’ve really enjoyed it. I love the idea of people enjoying coming to work especially our young apprentices. We have a board in our office with letters from customers and one lady said if her son turned out to be half as nice as our two young electricians, then she’d be really proud. I love that!” If you would like to find out more about HRHislop’s different approach to the electrical industry see www.hrhislop.com Remember there is no callout fee so if you’d like them to quote a job for you, please call 01249 554750 or email info@hrhislop.com
